I fucking loved the boat show.
It was fucking the best gig ever!
I spend most of the time up front being thrown into the band, and every time you guys finished a song you (as in Frank) used me to charge everyone back.
Ahahah man thats awesome! Gallows and Frank from My Chemical Romance, two of my favourite bands, hooking up to play Nervous Breakdown, a song by one of my other favourite bands. I wish i had been there. If something as spectacular as that happened in the UK make sure it happens in newcastle so i can see it for myself

Excellent show.
Great to see Lethal Brizzle on same bill.
Love yours & Bizzle’s version of The Ruts – Staring at the Rude Boys, you’ve brought a classic back to life.
All the Best
Matt
I’ve always wondered why people do covers which involve changing the song to something they know is by far inferior to the original. And, of course, we all know rapping does always improve a song.
And, I’ll tell you what, Frank’s vocals aren’t gnarly, they’re just out of tune.
Although I must say that the backing vocals and tune itself are well done (no effort to change them, see). But, I’d say, those lead vocals are much more suited to ‘Babylon is burning’ or ‘H-eyes’.
So are you saying that if anybody wishes to do a cover of a song they have to produce a complete copy of the original?
Sounds like a boring premise to me.
Bearing that in mind this versions ISN’T that different to the original.
I personally think that the Gallows have done a pretty fucking good job covering this song, making it their own enough so that it isn’t just a stale copy but also staying fairly faithful to the energy and the attitude of the original.
can’t wait till i’m able to come see you guys again.
only went to TOC in newport for you guys.
i was the twat shouting at frank to turn his mic up, still you guys put on a sick show. as you do each time i see you.
haha and btw radio one called you ‘frank turner’ on their webpage haha
I Just Wanna Say I Just Bought Your New Album And It Is Fucking Amazing Please Keep It Up You Rule Also I Went To See You At Electric Ballroom Your Performance There Was Amazing!!!
Who the fuck are the ruts when it comes to this song the Gallows rock this song.I bought the copy of the album with this track on just 4 this track i already had the other 1 thats how much i love this song.
Keep it up Gallows!
J.W have you been in the Radio 1 live lounge yet???Coz if not you should have been!
I see the scene law-makers have already passed judgement, so what if this is a cover! they’ve re-worked something of a classic into their own contemporary and relevant version. i think it’s kinda fitting for the times don’t you.
Aewsome gig, played well, shame Frank had a spot of mad dysentry but played their best anyways. Good frontman coming to meet the fans at the end . . . cheers fr the photo!
it was amazing,
Frank your a right nutter xD jumping off the stage whilst the crowd is like 6 feet away.
YOU LANDED ON MY HEAD but i couldn’t care less =D
Thanks for the great pictures and well thanks for letting me have a picture with you
I was that crazy girl with the pink and blonde hair.
I FUCKING LOVE YOU ALL :d
Ginger Sam WHAT A WANKER, who are the Ruts!!! Songs have to be wrote before other bands can cover, for a band like the Gallows to cover a song it must be great. The Ruts were the most talented, energetic band of their time and only denied greatness by tragic circumstances, if you had seen them live you Tosspot you would realise why the Gallows have honoured them by creating their version of the tune. Check out some Ruts tracks if youv’e got half a fucking brain so you may understand the concept of inspiration.
There are some very old apartment buildings here in chicago that you literally feel the need to run out of! I lived in it!
Oh yeah,I saw that porn Buck was in. At least I think it was him,I only had a rear view!
note to Buck…..shaving cream & a razor!
yahtzee;]
You all can just suck on my asshole like a Puerto Rican. This is an amazing cover, just like Rise Against doing a cover for Any Way You Want It. Everyone else is just jealous. This song is so good it’s made it’s way to my state(Florida, United Sates of FUCKING America!!!). So “Piss Off”!!!!
When I heard that awesome bass riff it was instant recognition – I only got to know the ruts after the fact – every time someone made a tape for me it vanished. I ended up putting it onto a Dolly Parton casette to hide it and that worked for a while.
Anyway Gallows do an AWESOME version and shows they have music in the blood.
midase – ruts tracks —WHERE…PLS WHERE???
lARISSA and joew 1989 – now aint that a dead give away – should get together cos they have the ruts tracks somewhere and surely they would love to ‘teach’ introduce them to a wider audience — got to go but got to listen to the Gallows vewrsion again before I do.
Thank god for some new musicians who dont look like puppets….
I didn’t even know this was a re-make until I read some of the above comments. BUT I DON’T CARE. This song is just amazing! I didn’t know it was on the album until I looked at how long “Nervous Breakdown” was! I’m pretty glad I bought the album!
Over all a great show. The opening bands ripped it up, although the crowd was pretty dull (which angered me cuz i wanted to slam) until Gallows came on. I was up front or in the pit most of the time and everything went absolutely ballistic (including myself) when the first chords of nervous breakdown were strummed. Frank had said he was feeling sick and got hurt during the song. they played their next songbut frank left during the last part. They came back on and played 2 more songs. over all i had a good time and was able to let off some steam. I really wanna see gallows out in la again soon. my suggestion next time is to get some local l.a. hardcore bands to play in order to get a more responsive crowd.
Old boy!
Well I’m trying to keep up with your tour diary even if no-one else is!
Keep rolling with th punches, oh and get Britney’s number for us; I could do with a new cleaner.
x
really rad gig!
twas cool, before the show i got a shirt at the merch table and i got to shake franks hand (he was in a crazy game of dice)
i had fun!
hope the tour goes well!
(and now im in love with this is hell)
Hey guys! I revert to see your show in a foufs montreal, I just wanted to tell you that a show crazy! I will always remenber, if you go back on a montreal is that I will come back, and thank you very much for the skateboard you otographier me!
Approchaines bye!
The majority of this show felt pretty restricted. There were signs everywhere that stated “No Moshing, Crowd Surfing, ect. Or you will be thrown out.” So everyone got the vibe pretty quickly. The show started off with She Rides! (Who I personally thought were pretty damn good) followed by Cancer Bats, This is Hell, and finally Gallows. Nobody with the exception of two drunk people moved for the first three bands, then as usual, it all went straight to hell when Gallows came on.
In the front there was an annoying drunken bastard mouthing off at Frank every five seconds. Funny for a while, but it got old really quick. I had never seen Gallows prior to this show but I can only say it was everything I imagined it to be. Lots of moshing, stage diving and rampaging even though there was the ‘risk’ of getting tossed out. I got crushed by some fat guy jumping on me near the left of the stage when Frank told the crowd that, “when your stage diving, you should try and jump on people BIGGER than you.” The security guards were being assholes but it was to be expected. Some highlights during their performance:
- Frank let the drunken bastard try to sing the first ten seconds of “In the Belly of a Shark” before stopping him and kicking him off stage for being an asshole.
- During their final song, “Orchestra of Wolves”, a security guard apparently was punching someone in the back repeatedly and Frank stopped the song and called him out for it. All I remember is hearing him call the guard a “pussy.”
Overall, even after all the pain I experienced it was worth it. Keep kickin’ ass and taking names, Gallows.
Fair play son made it in the end – hope someone gets this to you. Me, g and Jonesy are coming to see you on the 5th at the 100 club – keep em peeled. I’ve not heard anything but heard you’re just like roy ayers.
Perhaps I was a little overly harsh before, but I maintain I still prefer The Ruts version. It has grown on me a bit but I still can’t get past the rapping really, oh well.
If anyone wants some Ruts stuff, you know my email (I make no promises as legally I’m not allowed to – just in case).
Also, if you like this then I advise looking up Blitz and 999 as well.
First on was SSS, who in my opinion were fucking awful, the music was great but dude, you dont go onto a stage shouting Fuck and Cunt to random people in the audience. It isnt cool and it dont make you look hard.
Second on was Fucked Up. Pink eyes, fucking hell, crazy mofo. 300 pound man crowdsurfing, nearly broke me fuckin neck. Amazing music from Fucked Up. But i wouldnt reccommend letting him jump on you.
Last of the support bands was Set Your Goals. Freakin’ Amazing music, just i felt sick at all the little emo faggots going crazy over them. Its a band? Not a idol you can go wank over or finger yourself over. Jesus.
And then came the fuckin finale. Holy shit. Gallows. Firstly i didnt really like Gallows, and i bought tickets for me girl for valentines. But after that, they fuckin blew me away. My fave song has to be Abandon Ship. I sang all the way through that. Wait, not sing. Shout. I couldnt speak after that. Anyway, they fucking blew away the whole audience. With some cunt nickin frank’s shoe and generally being a fuckin dick. Why didnt you just give it back? Probably some stupid emo faggot who will cum on it when he/she gets home.
Anyway, all in all it was a pretty amazing fuckin gig. Mosh pit was a bit crap towards the end. But hey, everyone was tired.
Great gig.
Would reccommend anyone go see them, whether you like them or not cause they will blow you fuckin away.
Thanks to the support bands and of course, Gallows, for givin me a great night.
Definatly going again.
Come to Norwich again soon, Cause ill be gettin tickets .
a amazing show the support was a split sss had no stage presence and were a bitshit and the guitarist looked like he had just got out off bed but fucked up and set your goals were well sick gallows were amzing and frank carters sence of humor and quick come backs from the abuse of the greebs in the crowd was amazing and it will be something i will take and adapt for my own shows the vocals were amazing and was the rest of the music the pits were sick and i did manage to get a brief 2 step on and bash some greebs so it was an all round good night =]
First on came SSS,, who blatantly pleased next to no one,, they certainly didn’t do anything for me. It did not help that he was repeatedly calling random people in the crowd (he seemed to make ’school kid faggots’ his main victims) cunts and fuckers. Dude, if your being told to get off the stage,, that’s no way to change their minds.
Next on came Fucked Up,, who managed to get the crowd going with their ‘fighting is part of growing up,, tonight we all need to grow up’ speech. At this point i started to enjoy myself,, as i got dragged into the mosh pit. Although an enjoyable act,, i think maybe next time he should refrain from jumping into the crowd ,, and keep glowsticks away from his asshole!
As set your goals began to play,, nearly everyone in the room immediately started to sing their hearts out. Got hit a few times,, but what the hey. They were freaking awesome! Although all the emo kids engulfing me with their haircuts was rather annoying,, I enjoyed every moment of it and managed to have a good go in the circle pit. (although I lost my hat)
Then. What id been waiting for (after nearly 3 hours of support acts!) came the Gallows .FUCK. Before any of the band even had the chance to set foot on the stage,, the whole room boomed with chants of ‘Gallows, Gallows, Gallows’,, and the roar of excitement as Frank walked onstage in his hood and mask was almost deafening. As the band burst into ‘come friendly bombs’ the crowd exploded,, forget about the mosh pit,, the whole room was a mosh! The whole room was jumping,, fists in the air,, screaming the words at the top of their voices. This was what a gallows gig is about. The pure energy and enthusiasm these guys put into their shows is fucking amazing. And it payed off big time,, as they completely blew away their audience.
One of my fave moments has to be Frank owning a low life bastard who decided to steal his shoe,, who didn’t give it back despite the whole room throwing abuse at them! Frank,, laughing,, shouted ‘Do you wanna hear a funny story?? I’m sponsored by Nike so they were fucking free!’, Then he threw his other shoe into the crowd,, I mean who wants to walk around with one shoe?? ‘at least I match now’ she grinned.
Overall,, this has to be one of the best gigs I’ve been to in my life. Based on the obvious passion and dedication the gallows put into their shows and their fans. I would recommend a gallows gig to anyone who is looking to be blown away.
Come back guys,, I’ll definitely be buying tickets!!
You cunts!! We’ve just been upto the pyramids, and you’re not there. You ginger bastard, when you play in march look out for my bottle of shit!!! I’m saving it up just for you!! BASTARDSS!!!
Hi everybody, just wanted to say thank you for the shout to Paul at the nme awards. We raised a bit of money for the macmillan nurses at the Ruts/Rollins dvd launch great that you’ve used this event to raise awareness.I heard you were maybe playing at the rock against racism gig april 30th I’m be there so we may catch up..good luck xx segs
hey watch it the other night. it was great!
i also think it was great how you dedicated it to paul and the ruts as well. such a good way to raise awareness thanx for such a good nite in glasgow!! xxx
was an amazing set
a few dickeds sayin shit but frank put them in there places
i was right at the front throughout it all
was amazing
cant wait too see you again in the summer
and get your next album
my all time favourite band
xxx
Hey Sledge, are you by any chance the kid I saw crying outside the pyramids, stamping your feet, kicking the phone box and taking off your shirt? Your girlfriend looked well embarrassed!
OH MY GOD DID ANYONE WATCH THE NME SHOCKWAVES AWARDS LETHAL BIZZLE FUCKIN RUINED THE BLOODY SONG – OK HE CAN HAYE HIS BIT AT THE END BUT LEAVE THE PROS TO DO THEYRE JOB
I was very disappointed with the crowd during gallows. i knocked over frank because there was no one else on the floor around him. the band pkayed great though
Plus, aren’t you guys glad punk stars don’t get followed around like Britney Spears does? You can go get the newspaper in your underpants all the time and no-one’s going to put a picture of it on the front of the Times.
This song is one of the best songs on the Orchestra of Wolves album. I live in Houston, not far from Austin, and I should have gone to this show. But I did go to the Warped Tour last year, and they were without a doubt the most intense band there.
It was my second time seeing you guys with my best mate and this time we brought our friend who now has a Gallows soft spot =D
I got a load of comments from people saying they loved my custom ‘I <3 LB’ top my friend made me. Yes i have a I
Love Laurent top and fucking proud =D (Y)
next time we see you guys your signing the bad boy!
When Gallows announced that they were playing a warm-up gig (for the Radio 1 Big Weekend) on 10 May in a 260-capacity venue just 20 minutes’ drive from my house, I didn’t have to hesitate to get tickets.
We got to the venue — Tap ‘n’ Tin, in Chatham — just after 9pm, too late for the first of the support acts. This was due to not knowing where the venue was and not wanting to park too far away from it.
I’m old school, so ideally I like to buy a shirt when I go to a gig. Better still if it’s dated, but since the current growing series of gigs Gallows are doing is not really a tour per se, there doesn’t appear to be any tour-specific merchandise. No worries. At least I got a shirt (our lateness and the small size of the venue meant there was no queue at the stand). Three of the band members were even hanging out at the merch stand, and guitarist Lags sold me mine.
Support band Lakes were okay in places, but to be honest I don’t think I’d buy anything by them. It just didn’t quite gel for me overall. Maybe their sound wasn’t well set up (certainly almost no lyrics were audible), but it was just a bit uninteresting to me.
I don’t know what time Gallows finally hit the stage. About 10:15pm maybe. They opened with “In the Belly of a Shark” and did an awesome job of it. After that I sort of lost track, but all the fan favourites were there — “Abandon Ship”, “Rolling with the Punches”, “Will Someone Shoot That Fucking Snake”, et al — just as you’d expect, along with at least three new tracks getting their debut airing, the best of which for me was “Graves”.
The gig ended with “Orchestra of Wolves”, vocalist Frank Carter making his exit in crowd-surfing style as the audience chanted the final refrain: “The hardest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return”.
Verdict: a proper awesome gig.
Setlist:
Shark
Bombs
Dread the Night
Ship
Punches

Graves

November 1st, 2007 at 4:11 am
It’s fuckin’ amazing! Better than The Ruts version cos Frank’s vocals are so fuckin’ gnarly yo
November 10th, 2007 at 6:09 am
Way to murder a good song.
November 12th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
Great gig in Tilburg, Holland. Yet, very short, the gig lasted for 25 minutes.
They played [what I can remember]; Come friendly bombs, Abandon Ship, ITBOAS, Nervous Breakdown, OoW.
The point of critique: You couldn’t hear the lead-guitar very well. Maybe, because I stood on the right?!
Grade: 8 [Was my first Gallows-concert. Next up is Gallows in Amsterdam, 4 dec.]
Greetingz,
Rob
November 14th, 2007 at 9:52 am
@joew1989@googlemail.com:
November 16th, 2007 at 9:56 pm

December 6th, 2007 at 12:26 am
I see the scene law-makers have already passed judgement, so what if this is a cover! they’ve re-worked something of a classic into their own contemporary and relevant version. i think it’s kinda fitting for the times don’t you.
December 10th, 2007 at 3:15 am
Aewsome gig, played well, shame Frank had a spot of mad dysentry but played their best anyways. Good frontman coming to meet the fans at the end . . . cheers fr the photo!

December 22nd, 2007 at 7:28 am
Ginger Sam WHAT A WANKER, who are the Ruts!!! Songs have to be wrote before other bands can cover, for a band like the Gallows to cover a song it must be great. The Ruts were the most talented, energetic band of their time and only denied greatness by tragic circumstances, if you had seen them live you Tosspot you would realise why the Gallows have honoured them by creating their version of the tune. Check out some Ruts tracks if youv’e got half a fucking brain so you may understand the concept of inspiration.

January 6th, 2008 at 11:38 am
You all can just suck on my asshole like a Puerto Rican. This is an amazing cover, just like Rise Against doing a cover for Any Way You Want It. Everyone else is just jealous. This song is so good it’s made it’s way to my state(Florida, United Sates of FUCKING America!!!). So “Piss Off”!!!!
…Oh Yeah Go Man. Utd.
January 9th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
Thank god for some new musicians who dont look like puppets….
and by the way Jeff Gordon rules 24 4 ever……

I didn’t even know this was a re-make until I read some of the above comments. BUT I DON’T CARE. This song is just amazing! I didn’t know it was on the album until I looked at how long “Nervous Breakdown” was! I’m pretty glad I bought the album!
January 23rd, 2008 at 8:58 am
I found this song incredibly funny just from the first couple of lyrics. Truly amazing!

January 27th, 2008 at 5:13 am
January 28th, 2008 at 8:58 am

Without a doubt you are a very good band to watch live. The video is a very good attempt to capture the experiance.
I did, when I very first heard the song, wondered why you sang about “joe cole”. I have since realised this is not the case

February 12th, 2008 at 9:19 am
i was at that show and it was f*cking awesome!
February 13th, 2008 at 2:59 am
February 15th, 2008 at 12:17 pm
Prawn,
Fair play son made it in the end – hope someone gets this to you. Me, g and Jonesy are coming to see you on the 5th at the 100 club – keep em peeled. I’ve not heard anything but heard you’re just like roy ayers.

February 15th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Perhaps I was a little overly harsh before, but I maintain I still prefer The Ruts version. It has grown on me a bit but I still can’t get past the rapping really, oh well.
If anyone wants some Ruts stuff, you know my email (I make no promises as legally I’m not allowed to – just in case).
Also, if you like this then I advise looking up Blitz and 999 as well.
February 15th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
I have Babylon’s Burning, H Eyes, In A Rut, Jah War, Something That I Said, Staring At The Rude Boys, West One, Love In Vain.
February 16th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Fucking amazing show.
Come to Norwich again soon, Cause ill be gettin tickets
.
Peace out.
February 18th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
amzing show good crowd bands were good some good moshs and circel pits
February 20th, 2008 at 1:42 am
a amazing show the support was a split sss had no stage presence and were a bitshit and the guitarist looked like he had just got out off bed but fucked up and set your goals were well sick gallows were amzing and frank carters sence of humor and quick come backs from the abuse of the greebs in the crowd was amazing and it will be something i will take and adapt for my own shows the vocals were amazing and was the rest of the music the pits were sick and i did manage to get a brief 2 step on and bash some greebs so it was an all round good night =]

One word. Wow.

Poor Frank.
Plus, aren’t you guys glad punk stars don’t get followed around like Britney Spears does? You can go get the newspaper in your underpants all the time and no-one’s going to put a picture of it on the front of the Times.
April 11th, 2008 at 10:26 am
This song is one of the best songs on the Orchestra of Wolves album. I live in Houston, not far from Austin, and I should have gone to this show. But I did go to the Warped Tour last year, and they were without a doubt the most intense band there.
April 11th, 2008 at 10:28 am
This song is great, especially the ending! I bought the album and this is one of the eight songs I listen to most often!

Bombs

Ship
