I absolutely loved it. Gallows were great and Rage absolutely smashed it, quite easily my favourite live band in the world. I can't wait for their set at Download now. Also, it was good to see everyone again for the second time in 3 days, I was a bit of a mess by the time we all met up but it was still good fun.
hahaha, think ive yet to meet colin when hes sober!!...it was great to see you all again, on down side was once again only had a chance to talk to david briefly!! there always seems to be some sort of loud music when we meet up(lol) show was awesome, gallows were excellant and rage smashed it....personally gallows should have been the last band before rage
I wasnt keen on either of the other support acts tbh. Even our friends agreed that Gallows should have been on before Rage. Was good to see some of you, shame we didnt get to meet up with eveyone else
Gallows were amazing in Finsbury park I loved their 'God save the Queen'. They definitely should have played before Rage.I didn't like the two other acts. However just come back from Dublin and changed my mind about gogol bordello I hadn't really watched them on sunday and I liked them yesterday. Gallows last night played obviously to a much smaller audience a lot of people didn't realised they were on at 7 and missed their set alltogether. They were good as usual although slightly tense as the members of rage were looking on from the side of the stage. Rage last night were simply amazing, so professional and seeing them in an enclosed venue was very special, an incredible night.
The after show was totally mad, sitting at a table watching the boys play ping pong with Zack,Tom and Tim was something that will really stay with them for the rest of their life and it was totally totally SURREAL!!!.
That's great, Frenchy! It's so cool that Gallows are playing a few shows with Rage. And they definitely should have been the main support on Sunday.
I was really quite amazed by Rage on Sunday. They are one of those bands that I kind of liked but was never really that into. But you are right about their professionalism. Their sound was so tight and solid. Really incredible live act.
Gogol Bordello grew on me on Sunday. I watched the first couple of tracks with Geoff but wasn't really that taken with them. But they got better as their set wore on. When I found my missus, she was dancing away to them.
And Gallows were great. I was pleasantly surprised how well they were received, tbh, since I know a lot of people claim not to really be into them! Personally, I could do without two cover versions in such a short set, BUT it probably helps when playing to a crowd that doesn't know much of their original material.
Overall, it was such a good day. I don't do festivals as a rule. I haven't been to one since 1989. But that gig on Sunday (thought not a festival as such) could almost change my mind. Almost :)
home from 3 days of helping the lads on the ratm tour, it has been tiring due to unusual hours, travelling etc, but for me it has been absolutely fantastic, the whole thing has been brilliant, the lads thanked me for all my help but i think it should be me thanking them!!! apart from the shows the highlight had to be when tom morello came into the boys dressing room and invited us all to a small party they were throwing!! so theres all the lads, some of us parents having drinks/food and playing ping pong with gogo and rage!!!! and as frenchy says so surreal.
