Its going well so far, we are writing at a rate of one new song every day so far. Hopefully we’ll have alot of material to pick from for the final album tracks. Its a definite progression from Orchestra of Wolves and we’re well pleased so far. Its all about the riffs.
As lee said in the Reading thread, we’ll probably be playing a couple of new joints at the festivals in the summer, as we will have finished recording the album by the end of the summer holidays. Might even make a new one available before reading/leeds so you know the words.
maybe.
Anyway there’s your brief update, its weird not being on tour so much now and its cool we arent killing each other in the studio!
Will try to post pics of the room we practise in next week or something.

‘We’ve been nominated for best live band at this years Metal Hammer Awards. This is one award we feel we deserve and we’re thankful they’ve recognised us in this category. If you get the chance to vote for us that would be amazing. We’re also looking forward to playing both the Underage Fest in London and Boardmasters in Newquay. Fingers crossed the weather on the day will be sunny and we can all have a good time! Before all that tho we’re going to be in the studio writing and recording our next album, there’s not much we can say about it at this stage but we’re already excited with the ideas we’ve been throwing around in our practice space. Its been 3 years since we’ve really concentrated on writing some songs (Orchestra Of Wolves was originally written in 2005!) so there might be a difference in style, yet again there might not be, we’ll just have to wait and see.’

So we played the NME awards last night. It wasn’t something us as a band were particularly looking forward to (apart from the Billy Bragg/Kate Nash collaboration) but we were able to highlight an important cause.
Most of you should know that ‘Staring At The Rudebois’ is a cover of The Ruts. On the 21st October 2007 the guitarist of The Ruts, Paul Fox, lost his battle with Cancer. We dedicate our performance to Paul Fox, The Ruts, and anyone who has been affected by cancer. Frank gave out daffodils at the end of our set as a symbol of awareness. Not sure whether the cool kids who attended the awards last night are even aware of this but people like Billy Bragg, Kate Nash, Manic Street Preachers, The Horrors and The Cribs all did a little bit to help by wearing one of the daffodils we gave out. A lot of people came up to me after the awards and said how proud of us they were and that meant more to me than anything that evening.
The Great Daffodil Appeal takes place throughout March and the idea is to get everyone across the UK to give donations for daffodils and wear them with dignity. Every donation means more time for Marie Curie Nurses to spend caring for terminally ill patients at home.
Visit www.mariecurie.org.uk for more information and support a good cause.

We’re currently driving to San Francisco at the moment and the weather sucks. Played Los Angeles last night which was fun tho Frank and some of our crew were suffering from some kind of stomach upset (trust me, we all suffered in some form or another).
Matt from The Bronx sang ‘Nervous Breakdown‘ with us. During our set Frank took a nasty fall from the lighting rig and we’re still not sure how severe the damage is to his lower back but he soldiered on and finished the set. Had some good after hours drinking in a Hollywood bar (won’t say the name as we don’t want to get anyone in trouble).
The day before Buck, our tour manager, took some of us for a drive around the Hollywood Hills and checked out a few of the “stars” homes. Talking about stars, right by the Troubadour yesterday afternoon Steph, Brian our tech and I witnessed Britney Spears get totally harrassed by paparazzi. Was pretty disgusting to be honest! Hard life being famous..

Has been great!
Obviously its great being out here with our bro’s cancer bats and this is hell. Orlando, Florida stands out in my mind as a great show so far and we shot the video for just because you sleep… at the show in Austin, Texas. It was at a club called ‘Emos’ and is very famous in America..its not what you’d think with a name like that!
Played in San Diego ,California, just now with Social Distortion (great band check them out if you havent heard them..old school legends) and its going ok. We have all been getting along ok, getting new tattoos and everything that goes along with being on tour).
Really looking forward to getting home though and playing the UK tour. Then thats it for orchestra of wolves and we start writing the next record and actually recording it. Where and who with, we dont know yet but will keep you all posted.
Hopefully we will get to chat to you at the Merch table on tour.
Stay cold,
