So we came home from germany and then rolled straight up to manchester on the monday. We were booked in to play an In store and do a signing at Virgin in the arndale centre. To be honest i need to level with everyone here…. we never wanted to do the instores and did ask why we were doing them but our questions and requests fell on deaf ears as can be the case. When you sign up to a major there are certain things you are forced to do to try and sell UNITS. FUCK THE UNITS. FUCK THE LABELS. FUCK THE HYPE. we are not a bunch of rockstar pricks. we are
5 guys with a lot of passion for the music we play. It has never changed and will only get better.
YOU WILL ALWAYS FIND US HANGING OUT AT THE MERCH AS SOON AS WE HAVE PLAYED SIGNING STUFF AND TALKING TO EVERYONE UNTIL THE SECURITY GET AGGRO AND KICK EVERYONE OUT.
Unless i am in hospital or police custody.. we will ALWAYS be there. I doubt very much we will ever do a signing again, as it seems kinda pointless when we do them every night at our shows. So anyways.. rant over. for now… Manchester was embarassing. Im not gonna lie to you as we have built a reputation on being honest and thats exactly what we are. We drove all the way up there and played to about thirty kids.
The kids that were there definitely enjoyed it and we let the crowd decide what songs we played. You always know its gonna be a weird night when 15 minutes before you go on there are more security than fans. hard fucking work i tell ya. Lee put it straight when he said “Its times like this that make you realise your band is shit”. He wasnt that far wrong..
London the next day was better. About 100 people showed up which was cool. We let them decide what songs we played and i think we played about 5 songs in the end. I got a bit carried away and wanted to play the end of wolves on guitar.. so i went and got a nice gretsch hollowbody off the wall and started playing.. but it was out of tune which really pissed me off. So i smashed it into the floor.
I DO WANT TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK EVERYONE WHO BOUGHT OUR SINGLE. We made sure that it was not chart elligible so we didnt have to worry about where it went in and we could just enjoy the fact that we had a single out. If it had of gone in the charts then as im writing this now.. it would be number 16. Thats pretty fucked up for a band who never once wrote music for anyone else but themselves. A band who constantly dont give a fuck what anyone thinks. A band who write songs with influences from such chart toppers as Botch, Das Oath, JR Ewing an Converge. Something is happening. something great.
The sheep are finally realising that if they dont wise up and start thinking for themselves… then theyre gonna get eaten. and trust me..
there are plenty of hungry wolves out there.. FXC
